Isabella Kirshner’s Bat Mitzvah Fundraising Project:
In Loving Memory of Brandon Marder, z”l

Brandon Marder was a beautiful, sweet boy who tragically lost his life from childhood brain cancer. He was only 12-years-old when he passed away earlier this year. In Brandon’s memory, Isabella has dedicated her Bat Mitzvah project to raising money to raise awareness for pediatric cancer research.

Today, there are more than 28,000 children living with a brain or spinal cord tumor. Over 2,500 children are diagnosed every year. Pediatric brain tumors have become the leading cause of cancer-related death in children, yet research funding for these devastating diseases remains alarmingly low. Greater investment is urgently needed to drive new treatments, improve survival rates, and bring hope to families facing the unimaginable.

Thank you so much for your support.

30 years ago, Making Headway Foundation was established with an ambitious mission to provide compassionate care for children and families impacted by a pediatric brain or spinal cord tumor, as well as to fund vital medical research. What started as help for just a few has grown into assistance for thousands, through a wide range of programs, services, and research investments. Having a child with a brain or spinal cord tumor will always be devastating. Beyond the best possible medical care, families need support and resources that begin at the hospital and radiate outward with educational and counseling services, advocacy, and so much more.
