ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS:

STAFF APPRECIATION GIFTS 2023: For Valentine’s Day 2023, we wanted to celebrate the incredible oncology staff at Mount Sinai Hospital. We created Valentine’s Day gift bags with personalized notes for both in-patient and out-patient staff members from multiple care units. Our team hand-delivered each care package to the hospital staff on Valentine’s Day.

CARE PACKAGES WINTER 2022: For this project, we wanted to ring in the New Year by showing our appreciation to a past Club Care family. We reconnected with Derek’s family, who we worked with earlier in the year to plan his Birthday Party. We created customized gift packages based on each family member’s preferences to show our gratitude for this amazing family and to say happy holidays. We partnered with several Club Care chapters to include personalized cards in each care package.

FALL BAKE SALE 2022: For our fall fundraiser, we enlisted the help of our volunteers and community to organize a bake sale in our local park. Similar to previous fundraisers, we donated the leftover baked goods along with a grocery gift card to a family dealing with food insecurity.

DEREK’S BIRTHDAY PARTY 2022: For our Fall Project, we connected with an 11-year-old boy who finished his treatment for medulloblastoma over the summer. With the help of Chuck E. Cheese, we collaborated to organize a memorable party for this boy. We worked with this incredible family to create Derek’s dream party and make this day special. We provided a cake, presents, decorations, party favors, and food to celebrate his birthday and being cancer-free.

HEALTHY SNACKING ZOOM FALL 2022: Working with Woman to Woman, a program based at Mount Sinai Hospital, we researched and organized a presentation of our favorite nutritious snacks. We then presented and demonstrated the process of making our delicious recipes for women with gynecologic cancer via Zoom. We offered this program in English and Spanish.

MOTHER’S DAY 2022: Virtual Spa Experience – To show our appreciation for the amazing Moms who work so hard to care for their children with brain cancer, we arranged for four Moms to receive special care packages filled with makeup products. Upon receiving these products, these Moms were then connected with makeup artists to teach them how to use these products for a special Mother’s Day treat!

SPRING 2022: Family Makeover Project – To help celebrate spring, Club Care partnered with a 15-year-old girl with brain cancer, her 13-year-old sister, and their Mom to arrange professional makeovers for all three of them. We treated this family to haircuts, hairstyles, professional makeup, a new wardrobe, and a huge array of beauty products. After their special day of beauty and pampering, they were provided with a gift card to go out to dinner and celebrate their new looks!

WINTER 2021: Family Christmas Sponsorship – We wanted to bring some holiday cheer to a family who was struggling with cancer. We spoke many times with this family of five, including a daughter with brain cancer, working hard to create a memorable Christmas for their entire family. We purchased presents and gift cards for the whole family (including their dog), Christmas decorations and treats, and a grocery gift certificate to cook their own special Christmas meal.

FALL 2021: Fundraiser/Bake Sale & Food Donation – For our next  project, we organized a bake sale in a local park. We created a signup sheet for our family and friends to bake treats to help us raise money to fund future projects. All unsold food was donated and delivered directly to a family facing food insecurity along with a gift card enabling them to buy groceries for their family.

SPRING 2021: Cancer Patient Bedroom Makeover – With the world facing a global pandemic, we had to be creative and figure out a COVID-safe but impactful project. We connected with a family to design and redecorate the bedroom of a young girl battling medulloblastoma. We created an Amazon wish list and rallied our community to assist us in making this young girl’s dreams come true. We connected multiple times through Zoom discussing what her dream bedroom would look like, allowing us to turn her dream into a reality.

SPRING 2020: Oncology Unit Staff Care Packages – We wanted to show our support and appreciation for the hardworking oncology staff. We baked special treats and included handwritten notes, mugs and Starbucks gift cards to express our gratitude for their hard work. We then hand-delivered the packages to the multidisciplinary staff.

FALL 2019: Pediatric Oncology Patient Care Packages – For our first project, we created and designed custom clipboards to raise money. With the money raised, we purchased fun toys and entertaining games to assemble care packages. We then hand-delivered these comfort bags to pediatric cancer patients receiving treatment at Mount Sinai Hospital.
